Personal Statement

Hello! My name is Scott Kaiser.

I liked playing with die-cast model cars and doodling on text books as a kid. When it came time to apply for college, I found car design by chance. Five years of hard work later, here I am.

I grew up living in Australia, China, Germany and the USA. As an outgoing and curious person, I’ve met people as high above as the Queen of Denmark as well as folks as ordinary as villagers in rural China. My background has given me the ability to evaluate design from different perspectives and I’d like to use my personal experience to approach design with human experience and emotion in mind. Likewise, I hope that my unique understanding can provide strong insights on the converging international market in ways that statistics generated by market research cannot.

I am a big fan of minimalistic product design such as those from Apple and Bang & Olufsen. I believe simple designs are more timeless and the same philosophy also applies to cars. I believe there’s a fine balance between minimalism and excitement and I try very hard to capture such equilibrium within my designs by creating well refined proportions, generous volumes and strong overall gestures.

Deep inside, I am still that enthusiastic boy who loves cars and drawing, except now I am ready to take on the real challenges my future career will throw at me.
